MICHAEL Lee, the most controversial World Champion in history, will be signing copies of his new biography, Back From The Brink, at Peterborough on Monday, July 19.
Lee, a familiar face at the Showground who has worked closely with the Panthers team in the role of technical advisor for the past two seasons, will be meeting supporters and signing his book both before the home meeting against Poole and again during the interval.
MICHAEL LEE is the latest big name subject of the next book to come off the Retro Speedway shelf.
We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with the former World Champion to publish his authorised biography.
Back From The Brink, written by Retro Speedway’s Tony McDonald and great value at £16 for 352 pages (16 in full colour), will be launched in Cardiff before the British Grand Prix on July 10.
But if you order your copy before July 8 (deadline now extended by one week), it will be personally signed by Michael, the 1980 world title holder and former Boston, King’s Lynn, Poole and England No.1.
IT is with sadness and regret that we report the news that Kelly Moran finally lost his biggest battle at 7.40pm BST today (Easter Sunday, April 4). He died peacefully at a hospice in Palm Desert in his native California surrounded by friends. He was 49.
Kelly gave his last interview to Backtrack (Issue 37) while recovering in hospital just a few weeks ago, when he spoke with great candour about his health problems - chronic liver and lung damage - and the previous hectic ‘party lifestyle’ that led to his downfall.
“Whatever the Big Guy upstairs has got planned, no-one’s gonna change it,” he told us with a typical shrug of those little shoulders. Like all terrific racers who have to win the majority of their points from the back, he maintained his fighting spirit right to the end even though he probably knew his condition was terminal.
