A multi World Finalist with more than 50 international caps to his name, he established himself as Halifax's greatest ever rider in a glittering career.

And even when his riding days were over, his charismatic character was not lost to speedway as he made his name as team boss with England, guiding the Lions to a unique World Championship grand slam.

At club level, he won more honours as team boss at Belle Vue, Sheffield, Long Eaton and Hull.
